Huami has welcomed new Head Chef He Jia, following a global search to bring exceptional Chinese flavours to Auckland.

Originally from Nanjing, China, Chef He Jia grew up immersed in the flavours and techniques of Chinese cooking. After graduating from the Chinese Cuisine College of Nanjing, He Jia spent ten years at the Jinling Hotel refining his skills across regional styles including Huai Yang, Cantonese, Shanghainese and Zhejiang cuisine. His time there built a strong foundation in the techniques and balance that define Chinese cooking.

In 2010, He Jia began his international career with the opening team at Hakkasan in the Emirates Palace, later holding senior roles with the Four Seasons, Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Shangri-La. His leadership contributed to multiple awards from Time Out and Good Food Magazine, recognising excellence in Chinese and Pan Asian dining. Before joining Huami, he was Executive Chef at the renowned Mr Chow Restaurant in Riyadh.

At Huami, He Jia blends classical Chinese traditions with modern technique to create dishes that are both refined and full of character. His menu celebrates the diversity of Chinese flavours and reflects his belief that food should bring comfort, connection and joy.

Come in and try his delicious new menu!
